Glute Dominate vs. Quad Dominate
How to target your glutes more when lunging 👋🏼🍑
Walking lunges are a really good exercise that effectively target the major leg muscles. And if ya didn’t knowwww, a cool thing about lunges is that you can alter how you perform the exercise in order to specifically target different muscle groups.
In the bottom picture I’m taking to short stride and keeping my torso upright. What this does is make the exercise more knee dominant, which means you are mainly targeting your quads.🤷🏼♀️
In the top picture I’m stepping further in front and bringing my torso and dumbbells forward as I lunge. What this does is makes the exercise more hip dominant, which means I’m better targeting my glutes and hamstrings.🍑
Most of us girls are all about building a solid pair of glutes, so when you do lunges try taking bigger steps and leaning forward with the dumbbells. Also make sure you land and keep pressure on the heel of your front foot!🥂💪🏽
