Are you on a fad diet?

With 900 million “diets” out there, one thing I’ve noticed is most of them point to a certain macronutrient, type of food, or even a specific time to eat/not eat.

WHY FAD DIETS COULD WORK❗️
They can be effective for fat loss because it can lead to a reduction in CALORIE INTAKE. However, a big problem is that most of these diets don’t focus on the amount of calories a person is eating in a day.

A lot of clients who come to me were on a certain diet but they weren’t seeing results. When I asked how many calories they were consuming each day, they usually had no idea🤷🏼‍♀️. They were just under the impression that if they ate less of a certain food they would lose weight. The problem with this is that even if you eliminate certain foods from your diet you can still be eating too many calories, ultimately stalling your fat loss.

The biggest factor that causes fat gain/inability to lose weight is overconsumption of calories, so no wonder they weren’t losing weight!🤰🤰

🥂 As I mentioned, these diets CAN cause weight loss, but your main focus should always be figuring out how many calories you need to eat to effectively lose body fat. Then from there you can play around with different protein, carb, and fat ratios to see what works best and is the easiest to follow. For some people that may be a plant based diet, a low carb diet like keto or paleo, a low fat/high carb diet, or maybe a balanced combination of macronutrients.

🙋🏼‍♀️The takeaway: certain foods or macronutrients aren’t causing you to gain weight or limiting fat loss. Instead, not losing fat is almost always due to a person eating too many calories. 🍋🍉🍍
